In this August 2024 release, we’ve introduced enhancements designed to streamline your reporting experience, boost performance, and offer even greater flexibility. Explore these exciting updates that will help you use your data to make more informed decisions.
This blog will look at the new features of this release. Let’s check them out!
Report Designer
Tablix Wizard Support
We’ve added support for a Tablix wizard, simplifying the configuration of Tablix structures (table and matrix data regions) in reports. This wizard guides users through the design process, ensuring an easy setup.
We can format the matrix design in the Properties panel.
Report Items Explorer
Introducing the report items explorer, a feature that provides a hierarchical view of all report items. This feature allows users to navigate through the report items easily, enhancing the overall design experience.
Text Box Report Item
We’ve improved the text box report item to enhance end-user usability with rich text formatting and new functionalities:
Enhanced the display of expressions within the text box report item.
Improved cut, copy, and paste functionalities.
Improved keyboard functionalities for smoother text manipulation.
Connecting to MySQL and Postgres Data Sources through SSH Tunnel
We’ve added support for connecting to MySQL (CData, MemSQL, MariaDB, Google Cloud SQL, Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora) and Postgres (Amazon Redshift, Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Amazon Aurora) data sources through a secure SSH tunnel. This enhancement offers a more robust and secure connection method, especially when accessing remote databases over nonsecure networks.
Report Viewer:
Report Caching
We’ve implemented report caching to speed up report rendering for multiple users. The Bold Report Server stores processed reports temporarily, serving cached versions to subsequent users with the same parameters. This boosts performance for large, frequently accessed reports.
Note: Caching isn’t available for all reports, especially those with sensitive data or requiring user authentication.
You can find cached changes reflected in the report.
Round Border Settings
This new feature allows users to apply a corner radius by setting the Border-Radius custom property to all report item borders, enhancing the visual appeal of a report.
Report Server Team
Linked Report Support
Easily link reports within dataset and data source context menus. This feature streamlines connecting related reports, making data management more efficient.
SFTP Scheduling
Set up automated file transfers with our new SFTP scheduling feature.
Default Group User Management
In Account Settings, admins can configure new users to be automatically added to a default group.
Attachment Sending
Disable attachments or emails when the scheduled report export has no data. This feature, available in the scheduling dialog, ensures that unnecessary emails are not sent, keeping inboxes clutter-free.
Standalone Report Designer Update: Now for Purchase

Additional Improvements
64-bit Designer App: The standalone designer application now launches with a 64-bit configuration, ensuring better memory utilization and significantly improving performance.
